“It seems like it only takes you 46 seconds to get to the heart of the matter.” My client and I laughed, but the truth is—it’s not speed; it’s intuition.

As leaders and coaches, we often rely on data, strategy, and experience. But what about that gut feeling, that instinct that nudges us in the right direction?

It’s not magic—it’s a skill. And just like any skill, it can be trained.

The Art (and Science) of Intuition

Many think intuition is some mystical superpower, like Superman’s X-ray vision. In reality, it’s more like a muscle that strengthens with practice.

The challenge? Most of us don’t trust it. We second-guess, seek evidence, and ignore the subtle (or not-so-subtle) signals telling us precisely what we need to know.

I had been coaching a CEO who was brilliant at execution but struggled to step back and see the bigger picture. Operations consumed his days, leaving little room for vision or innovation. One of our core practices was learning to slow down—not just to manage time better but to develop a deeper connection with his intuition.

To help him on this journey, I gifted him The Intuitive Way by Penny Pierce, one of my favorite books on the subject.

At first, he was skeptical. But something shifted as he started paying attention to the subtle nudges and synchronicities in his personal life and business. His decision-making became more fluid, and his leadership became more creative.

Our vision for the company wasn’t just ambitious—it was inspired. And the people around him noticed. They saw a leader who was calmer, more confident, and more attuned to what truly mattered.

Trusting intuition isn’t about abandoning logic but integrating it with a more profound knowing. When leaders embrace this, they make better decisions and create a more aligned, more powerful future.

How Leaders and Coaches Can Strengthen Their Intuition

If you want to make better decisions, connect deeply, trust yourself more fully, and practice tuning in. Here’s how:

1. Quiet the noise–Meditate, go for a walk, or simply breathe deeply to clear mental clutter.

2. Play with your intuition–Predict movie endings, guess who’s calling before checking your phone, or follow that hunch and see what happens.

3. Ask and listen–Place your hand on your heart, ask your higher self a question, and notice what images, words, or sensations arise.

4. Act on your gut feelings–The more you trust your instincts, the stronger they become.

The more I’ve honored my intuition, the more in flow my life has become. Less stress. More alignment. More moments of pure magic. And yes—more laughter.

If you’re a leader or coach, intuition isn’t just a “nice to have.” It’s a game-changer. How has your intuition guided you in business or life?
